SALAMANCA — Diane E. Haley-DeBoy, 84, died Friday (Jan. 2, 2026) at the Medina Hospice House, following a short hospitalization and a 25-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Born May 12, 1941, in Salamanca, on Mother’s Day, to the late John W. Haley Sr. and Bertha Rockwell Haley.

She graduated from Salamanca High School, Class of 1959. She attended elementary school at the former St. Patrick’s in Salamanca and completed classes at Jamestown Community College in Olean.

She worked briefly for local attorney, Charles M. Congdon, as his secretary and then served 32 years with the NYS Department of Transportation Cattaraugus County Residency, retiring as senior clerk. She started with the DOT on Rochester Street, Salamanca, and then moved to the facility on Route 353 across from her father’s home.

She was also a licensed real estate agent, worked as hostess at the Dudley Hotel Restaurant, and briefly with the Ocala Water Company, Florida. She also co-owned and operated the Fashionality dress shops in Salamanca and Bradford, Pa.

Diane married twice, first to Charles F. Burleson in 1960 and had a son, Kevin C. Burleson. She married Russell T. “Butsy” DeBoy April 3, 1993, in Ocala, Fla., where they bought a home and moved after their retirement. She accepted and loved her three stepchildren, Michael (Noreen) DeBoy of Salamanca, Brian (Kathy) DeBoy of North Fort Myers Beach, Fla. and Sharon Eggleston of Panama. She was predeceased by both husbands.

She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Hughes-Skiba Post 535, where she was a past auxiliary president; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296, where one of her handmade quilts still hangs. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3656 of Ocala, the Holy Cross Athletic Club and the Legion and VFW in Ocala.

Her love of quilting included membership with the Country Road Quilters of Ocala and the group which met at the former Congregational Church in Salamanca.

Survivors include her son and stepchildren; a sister and caregiver, Kathleen Haley of North Royalton; four brothers, Raymond T. (Mary) Haley of Carrollton, Jeffrey (Diana) Haley of Kill Buck, Jay (Linda) Haley of Colonial Beach, Va. and James (Ginger) Haley of Napoli; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, step-grand-, and great-grandchildren whom she adored.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel J. “Jerry” Haley and John W. Haley Jr.

There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 11, 2026) in the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St. Salamanca, with Deacon Michael Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
