Margaret graduated from Good Shepherd Elementary School in 1945 and Sacred Heart Academy in 1949, both in New York City. After graduating from St. Bonaventure University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, she pursued further studies at the University of Minnesota, earning a Master of Science degree in hospital administration.

During her high school years, she was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Upper Manhattan, and it was there that she met the Franciscan Sisters.  She was inspired by their commitment as Women Religious, as well as their dedication to the sick and needy.

In 1991, Margaret became a certified Pastoral Associate and served in this capacity at St. Mary Hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla., for the next 12 years.  She was known throughout the hospital for her quiet, compassionate manner.

In 2003, she retired to Holy Cross Convent in the Bronx, where she volunteered in the parish. Sister was warmly welcomed to St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in June, 2022.

She is survived by her brother, Thomas; her sisters, Catherine and Anna McManus and Helen (William) McLaughlin; sister-in-law, Babara McManus; and several nieces and nephews.

Sister Margaret is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Bridget McManus; and her brother, John.

A Wake Service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 1, 2026) in the Chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (Jan. 2, 2026) in the Chapel of St Elizabeth Motherhouse. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
