Lawrence Michael Skroback, loving husband, father and grandfather

GENESEE — Lawrence M. Skroback, 84, of Deer Creek Road, passed away Saturday (Dec. 20, 2025) in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Larry was born Oct. 31, 1941, in Olean, he was the son of Michael and Alice Curtis Skroback. On Sept. 2, 1967, at Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, he married Mary F. Muhitch, who survives.

Larry was a 1959 graduate of Portville Central School. He attended Montana University.

Larry worked at various different places including Kodak in Rochester before he returned to Olean and worked at Clark Brothers for a few years. Larry then began working at MOOG, where he worked for over 44 years before retiring Aug. 31, 2017.

Larry enjoyed dairy farming since he was a boy and tending to his large garden. He was a huge animal lover. Larry was very active in sports. He enjoyed coaching baseball, softball and basketball. He was also a referee for soccer and basketball for over 20 years in Section 6 and Section 5.

Larry was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels.

Beside his loving wife, Mary, Larry is survived by his five children, Ann Marie (Gregory) Knight of Virginia, Caroline Timmons of Effingham, S.C., Christine Skroback of Rockville, Md., Lawrence M. Skroback of Olean and David J. (Amanda) Skroback of Portville; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Hudson, Anastasia, Thomas, Scott, David, Emma and Theodore; three siblings, Gary (Artie) Skroback of Portville, Thomas Skroback of Florida and New York and Patricia (Ernest) Dean of Portville; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was predeceased by his parents; and brother-in-law, Joseph L. Muhitch on Aug. 19, 2020.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 28, 2025) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Funeral services will be held beginning with a prayer service in the Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Monday (Dec. 29, 2025), followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Father Dennis J.J. Mancuso will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
