William H. Grandin

William H. Grandin, beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle

ROULETTE, Pa. — William H. “Bill” Grandin, 87, a lifelong resident of Roulette, passed away peacefully in his home with his loving family by his side, on Friday (Nov. 7, 2025).

Born Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1937, in Roulette, he was the son of Major William and Beverly L. Palmeter Grandin. On Sept. 14, 1957, in Newark, N.Y., he married Irma  Molina, who passed away May 12, 2018. Bill and Irma were married 60 years.

Bill was a graduate of Roulette High School, Class of 1955. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force.

Bill, along with his wife, owned and operated the former Bill’s Kendall in Roulette, which they established in 1969, selling the store in 1997. He also served as a Roulette Township Supervisor from 1987 until 2005.

In his earlier years, he worked on the railroad and had also worked constructing the ski lift at Denton Hill in Coudersport. He was also a longtime caretaker of the Hill Cemetery in Roulette.

Bill was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church in Roulette, where he served as a lay leader. He was a life member of Chemical Engine Company 1 in Roulette, where he had the honor of being the oldest living member. He was an active member for over 65 years, had also served as a past fire police captain, and had called bingo for many years.

He was a 50 year member of Liberty Lodge 505 F. & A.M. in Port Allegany, a member of the Coudersport Consistory and a member of the Roulette Alumni Association. Bill volunteered at the Coudersport Arboretum, dressing as a railroad worker.

In his later years, Bill enjoyed crafting and woodworking, and driving his various lawnmowers and golfcarts around his property and our community.

Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Beverly (Steven) McDowell of Roulette, Brenda (Brian) Milliron of Roulette, Barbara (Dean Burt) Robinson of Sarye; son-in-law, Rick Fillhart of Roulette; six grandchildren, Craig (Rachel Engleking) McDowell, Rikki Sue (Corey) Ross, Justin (Christine) Fillhart, Shelby (Richard) Fry, Hannah (Myles Brady) Robinson and Mollie (Tyler) Campbell; great-grandchildren, Kaelee, Savannah, Colton, Tyler, Madison, Peyton, Ryan, Grant, Parker and Karson; sisters, Sandy Heck and Reba Pierce; numerous nieces and nephews, including Maria Molina and Luis Molina; and great-nephew, Christopher Molina.

A special thank you to Bill’s loving caregivers LaShella Gleason, Sandy Fry and Rhonda Butler.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlene Meachum and Joy Pekarski; and son-in-law, Mark Robinson.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Bill’s life on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at the Riverside United Methodist Church, 30 River St., Roulette. A Masonic service will be held at 11 a.m. immediately followed by members of the Potter County Guard, who will accord military honors. A memorial service will then be held with Pastor Jim Cannistraci officiating. Lunch will follow at the church. Burial will be at Hill Cemetery, Roulette.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roulette Chemical Engine Co. 1, P.O. Box 172, Roulette, PA 16746; or to the Riverside United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 65, Roulette, PA 16746.

Bill’s family has entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
