SARANAC LAKE — Ann Elizabeth Barton Henderson, 80, of Saranac Lake, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 5, 2025) at home, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Olean on July 19, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Walter Barton and Thelma Barton Klas.

Ann loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved animals and more than once rescued the saddest looking dog at the shelter.

Plants and flowers thrived under her care, and her apple pies and muffins were legendary. She gave the best hugs.

Ann is survived by her husband of 51 years, Alan; daughter, Natalie (Paul) Macquire of Rochester; son, Joseph (Tracey) Henderson of Saranac Lake; grandchildren, Elizabeth and William Henderson; brothers, Timothy (Deanie) Barton of Leland, N.C. and Walter (late Beverly) Barton of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Gregory; sisters, Emily Chandler and Karen Kwiatkowski; and brother, Gary Barton.

Funeral services will be private.
