HINSDALE — Michael A. Boland Jr., 35, passed away on Sunday (Nov.  2, 2025).

Born Aug. 31, 1990, in Olean, he was the son of Michael A. Boland Sr. and Noreen Kennedy Boland. On Aug. 7, 2010, at Rock City Park in Olean, he married Lisa Lattery, who survives.

Mike graduated from McDowell Senior High School in Erie, Pa. in 2008 and soon after, enlisted in the U.S. Marines. During his service he was deployed to Afghanistan and was stationed at Camp Leatherneck from 2012 until his discharge in 2013.

Mike developed a hobby of creating opal jewelry from his home. It became his occupation which he loved, and he spent hours over the last five to six years cutting, polishing and setting the stones into personalized works of art.

He leaves behind his wife, Lisa; his mother, Noreen of North Carolina; two sons, Ethan Boland and Elijah Boland, both at home; and two brothers, Dylan Boland of Attleboro, Mass. and Sean Boland of Erie.

He was predeceased by his father, Michael Sr., on Feb. 24, 2020.

The family will be present to receive friends for a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 7, 2025) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. To honor his service, the Allegany American Legion ritual team will present the flag at 5 p.m. No formal services will follow.
