FRANKLINVILLE — Following a lengthy illness, Roderick L. “Rick” Perkins, of Bear Creek Road, passed away peacefully Monday (Sept. 22, 2025) at Olean General Hospital.

Rick was born March 9, 1955, in Olean, to loving parents Richard and Marcein Nelson Perkins, who predeceased him. Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Patti A. Graham Perkins, whom he married Nov. 10, 1973, in Belmont .

In 1974 Rick started his own business, Perkins Dump Truck Service. Over the years he successfully grew the business which is now known as Rick Perkins Contracting, consisting of multiple dump trucks, two gravel pits and numerous pieces of excavation equipment.

Through his business Rick was always willing to give someone a chance if they needed it which allowed him to create many lasting friendships. To know Rick was to know he valued hard work, honesty and the ability to take criticism.

Rick enjoyed many things in life including riding his side by side at his camp in the valleys of Pennsylvania, drinking a cold Busch Light paired with a cigarette after a long day’s work, collecting pocket knives, horses and eagles, and watching his western movies, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Along with his loving wife, Patti, and his loyal canine companion, Rubble, Rick is survived by sons, Eric (Darlene) Perkins of Franklinville and Matthew (Heather) Perkins of Franklinville; grandchildren, Tucker Perkins of Franklinville, Lizzie (Jake) Pollock of Bailey, N.C. and Nick (Ashlea) Burton of Port Allegany Pa.; great-granddaughter, Gabriella Burton of Port Allegany; siblings, Kristine Young and Fred Perkins; and special brother-in-law, Gary Graham; along with many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held starting at 1 .p.m Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at Rick Perkins Contracting Shop, located at 3027 Bear Creek Road, Franklinville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be made to the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Department, 75 N. Main St., Franklinville NY 14737; the Machias Volunteer Fire Department, 9548 Main St., Machias NY 14101; or the Olean SPCA, 2944 Route 16, Olean, NY 14760.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, located at 7 N. Main St., Franklinville.
