SHORT TRACT — Jay W. Stevens, a former resident of Short Tract, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday (Aug 21, 2025) in Olean General Hospital.

He was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Buffalo, a son of the late Kenneth and Florence Stevens. He married Sophia Stevens, who predeceased him on May 27, 2016.

Jay was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1953 to 1956, and was a former employee of Letchworth State Park.

He was a member of the Dee Victor Thomas Post 1155 of Fillmore and a member of the former Short Tract United Methodist Church, currently the Short Tract Community Church.

Surviving are two stepdaughters, Yvonne Swimline and Dawn (Bob) Bennett; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by a stepson, Randall Mueckl; and a stepdaughter-in-law, Brenda Mueckl.

Family and friends may gather from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday (Aug. 30, 2025) at the Short Tract Community Church, 10366 Route 15, where a funeral service with military honors accorded by the Dee Victor Thomas Post 1155 of Fillmore will follow at noon. Pastor Alex Pierce will officiate. Burial will be in Short Tract Cemetery, Short Tract.

Memorials if desired may be made to Dee Victor Thomas Post 1155 of Fillmore; or the Short Tract Community Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore.
