FRANKLINVILLE — Ronald R. Kottwitz, of Main Street, passed away with his family by his side on Friday (Aug. 8, 2025) under the wonderful care of the doctors, nurses and staff at Olean General Hospital.
Ron was born Dec. 12, 1943, in Olean, and was the son of Reinhold and Adeline Struble Kottwitz. On July 3, 1965, in the St. Philomena Roman Catholic Church, he married Mary Alice Miller, who survives.
Ron was first and foremost a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He attended Cuba High School where he was involved in football, basketball and track.
If you knew Ron, you knew what a caring, loving, gentle man he could be. You enjoyed his easiness to laugh and his willingness to help when called upon. Some of you were the benefactors of his green thumb and the vegetables that grew in his garden. Ron was happiest being outdoors hunting, fishing or just being with family.
Ron worked for Onterio Knife Co. for 43 years, retiring in 2007. Ron attended of St. Philomena Roman Catholic Church of Franklinville for much of his life.
In recent years he enjoyed the people he bowled with in the local seniors bowling league.
Along with his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Alice of Franklinville, Ronald is survived by two sons, Chad (Venus) Kottwitz of Snellville, Ga. and Stephen Kottwitz of Eugene, Ore.; and three grandchildren, Noah, Emma and Bella; his brother, Dave (Barb) Kottwitz; and several nieces and nephews.
Ronald was predeceased by his parents; his infant son, Mark; and siblings, Earl Kottwitz and Sylvia Hagen.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. today (Aug. 12, 2025) at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home 7 N. Main St., Franklinville. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 13, 2025) at St. Philomena’s Roman Catholic Church, 26 Plymouth Ave, Franklinville, where the Rev. Rev. Charles Johnson will officiate.
