Yvonne E. Benson

CATTARAUGUS — Yvonne E. Benson, 58, of Cattaraugus, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, at Buffalo General Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1966, in Salamanca, daughter of the late Allen John “Fonz” and Corinne (Frentz) Benson.

Yvonne’s true passion was always working with children throughout her years of teaching. Once operating the Pre-K at the Little Valley United Methodist Church, Yvonne’s love for children grew as she continued to substitute teach at Cattaraugus/Little Valley Central School. Yvonne’s work at CLV grew to become a “do-it-all” helping hand for anyone who needed it, but her biggest love was working with the kids. Yvonne loved seeing them succeed.

She also enjoyed her cats and following the Buffalo Bills, of which she was a lifelong passionate fan.

Yvonne is survived by two cousins, although they grew to become sisters, Desiree (Richard) Jones of Shinglehouse, Pa., and Kim (Tom) Dissell of Cleveland, Ohio, and another special cousin, Christopher (May) Goodenow of Amherst, as well as two uncles, Phillip (Jane) Frentz of Gowanda and Dean (Elaine) Frentz of Busti. Also surviving is a special nephew, Jacob Goodenow of Amherst; a special niece, Miranda (Jordan Walters) Goodenow and her children, Delilah and Oliver, whom Yvonne adored, all of Cattaraugus. Also surviving is a special nephew, Ethan Goodenow; special niece, Myka Goodenow; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Yvonne is predeceased by a sister, Yvette Matthews.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., Little Valley. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Liberty Park Cemetery.
