OLEAN — Rodney R. Creed of Brook Street passed away on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, surrounded by friends and family at Olean General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Rodney was born on Oct. 11, 1966, in Durham, N.C., the son of Bobby Ray and JoAnn Karen Foster Creed. On June 1, 1991, in Smethport, Pa., he married Julianne M. Snyder, who passed away on March 11, 2025.
Rodney attended Olean High School. He had various jobs over the years. He worked for Adelphia Cable as an installer and project manager for more than 10 years. He then began working at Dresser-Rand in production for six years. Rodney became a phlebotomist at Olean General Hospital, then worked for BOCES in its media communications department before working at Salamanca City School as its IT technician for 15 years until his retirement due to his illness.
Rodney’s passion was music; he enjoyed playing in his band, Captain Jack, as the bass player from 2004-15. Rodney also enjoyed being an artist and drawing pictures and portraits sand he was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
Most of all, Rodney enjoyed spending time with his family, supporting his children at sporting events while cheering them on and spending time with his grandchildren.
Rodney is survived by his mother, JoAnn K. Lewis; his three children, Jordan A. (Sequan) Holness of Vacaville, Calif., Gannon M. Creed of Largo, Fla., and Josh S. (Angelina) Creed of Salamanca; four grandchildren, Daciana, Henry, Caleb and Bubs; two brothers, Corey (Becky) Creed of Duke Center, Pa., and Gregory Lewis of Rochester; a sister, Sherri (Alan) Moat of Braselton, Ga.; mother-in-law, Joni Snyder of Pinellas Park, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Rodney was predeceased by his loving wife of 34 years, Juli, on March 11, 2025; his father, Bobby, on Feb. 17, 2004; and three siblings, Teresa L. Riehle on Feb. 14, 2022; Charlene M. Creed on Dec. 2, 2007; and Chad E. Creed in 1982.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean, on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held. Pastor Robert Grant of Valley Christian Assembly will officiate.
