John Joseph Topor, Jr.

John Joseph Topor Jr., loving husband, father and amazing Papa

PORTVILLE — John J. Topor, of Prosser Road, was called home by the Lord on Friday (July 25, 2025) at Olean General Hospital.

John was born Nov. 12, 1943, and was the son of John J. Topor Sr. and Margaret Merotto. On June 8, 1991, he married the love of his life, Constance Fenner, who survives.

John attended Olean High School.

John worked setting up gas stations for Highway Oil from California to Florida to New York. Then he worked at Portville Central School, driving bus, and then worked for Olean Wholesale for several years until he retired.

The most precious thing in his life was his wife, children and grandchildren; he was known to many as Papa. John enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all that they did whether it be school sports, it just didn’t matter — as long as he was in their presence he was happy.

He also enjoyed NASCAR, traveling with his wife in their RV, living in Florida for several years during the wintertime and having target practice with his brothers at Bobby’s house. John was a fixer of all, he was very handy.

Along with his loving wife, Constance, John is survived by three children, Tammy (Bill) Gann of Florida, Christine (West) Long of Portville and John (Mary Lou) Nitsche of Groveland, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Nitsche, Emily (Jeff Buchanan) Long, Joseph (Carley LaFever) Long, Michael Long, Ty Hoagland, Zach (Casie) Buchanan, Rumor (Adam Bates) Buchanan, Parker (Leah Heaton) Harvey, Tiffany (Jeff) Diven, Billy Gann, Alex (Taylor) Topor and Evan Topor; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby (Elaine Rogers) Topor and Rick (Marsha) Topor; brother-in-law, Richard Fenner; sister-in-law, Penny Fenner; and special sister-in-law, Lucinda (Donald) Scott.

John was predeceased by his parents; two children, Terry Topor and Tracy Harvey; a sister, Barbar Fahy; and a brother-in-law, Edward Fenner.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St.
