Cathy Ann Miller

OLEAN — With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Cathy Ann Miller of 111 E. Connell St., who left us peacefully Tuesday (July 22, 2025) at her home, at the age of 66.

Cathy was born Sept. 1, 1958, at St. Francis Hospital in Olean, and was the daughter of Ronald A. and Thelma R. VanCuren Phearsdorf. She was formerly married to Larry L. Miller. Cathy has been with the love of her life for 32 years, Jeffrey L. App, who survives.

Cathy was a lifelong resident of Olean, and graduated from Olean High School in 1977.

Cathy will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit and unwavering kindness. A woman of quiet strength, Cathy touched the lives of many with her compassion and love.

Cathy is survived by her loving companion, Jeffrey L. App, with whom she shared many cherished years. Cathy was a devoted mother to her daughter, Ariale J. Miller of Allegany, who was the light of her life. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, sisters Deborah L. Phearsdorf, Sherry Lawton, Lisa M. Phearsdorf, and a brother, Terry Phearsdorf, all of Olean.

Cathy was predeceased by her mother, Thelma Ruth Phearsdorf in June of 2015; and her father, Ronald Allen Phearsdorf in January of 2017; a granddaughter, Clover S. Young on July 8, 2021; and maternal grandmother, Anna M. Myers VanCuren; who was very instrumental in her upbringing.

Cathy found joy in the simple things, especially her love of reading and her adored cats. Her gentle presence, thoughtful nature and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
