Allegany photographer Dan Jordan spotted several ospreys tending to their nests on a recent outing to Allegany State Park. This image shows an adult female osprey shielding its offspring from the sunlight. The not-yet-fledged osprey in the nest can be seen panting, the cooling method most birds will use on hot days.
