Donald L. Thierman Sr.
OLEAN — Donald L. Thierman Sr., 86, passed away peacefully Friday (June 13, 2025) at The Pines of Olean.
Born Aug. 14, 1938, in Olean, he was the son of Staff Sergeant George Thierman Jr., who passed away while serving in World War II, and Irene Neudeck Thierman. On Feb. 28, 1960, in Allegany, he married Carol Klampt, who survives.
Don was a graduate of Olean High School. He worked for many years at the Service Store in Olean and also for Cutco Cutlery.
He was a member of both the Allegany and Weston Mills Fire Departments, and also the Classic Cars Club in Olean.
He was a deer processor in the area for many years and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending car shows.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Donald (Holly) Thierman Jr. of Portville and Rosemarie (Wayne) Gerrell of Emerald Isle, N.C.; three grandchildren, Ryan (Emma) Thierman, Logan (Nate) Robertson and Kamryn Gerrell; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Thierman.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today (June 17, 2025) at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral, 3128 West State Road, Olean. A funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
