OLEAN — City officials reported Thursday that two Olean Police Department patrolmen are on unpaid leave and are being investigated by the New York State Police.
“The Olean Police Department is not involved in the investigation,” said a statement from Mayor Bill Aiello’s office, which indicated the investigations are separate matters and that the Olean Police Department was not involved in the investigations.
The patrolmen were identified as Jason Boon and Jason DeYoe. The city’s website indicates DeYoe was hired in 2008, and Boon in 2012.
A report circulated on social media in early May sharing a screenshot of a May 7 message from an Olean City School District administrator indicated that Boon, serving as a school resource officer at Olean Intermediate Middle School, had been placed on administrative leave. That report indicated that the leave was not related to any actions at the school, but did not provide details on the reason for the leave.
Requests for comment from Aiello and from state police officials were not immediately returned.
