OLEAN — A Buffalo man faces felony drug-related charges following a traffic stop late last week, the Olean Police Department reported Wednesday.
James Young, 54, was arrested at 7:07 p.m. Friday on a warrant issued out of Cattaraugus County Court related to charges of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance/narcotic drug and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance/narcotic drug, class B felonies.
These charges stem from Young allegedly selling crack cocaine to an agent of the OPD Street Crimes unit.
According to police, Young failed to stop immediately during the traffic stop and was allegedly seen throwing items out of his car. After stopping Young on Interstate 86, officers allegedly retrieved 10 baggies of crack cocaine that had been thrown from Young’s vehicle.
Young was additionally charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance/narcotic drug, a class B felony; tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony; driving with an obstructed view, failure to keep right and moved from lane unsafely, infractions.
Young was turned over to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
Salamanca Police
- Tuesday, 2:30 p.m., Theodore R. Wiltse, 61, of Bradford, Pa., was arrested on a warrant issued out of Salamanca City Court. Wiltse was released with an appearance ticket.
New York State Police
- MACHIAS — Steven P. Howe, 50, of Delevan, was charged at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday with criminal obstruction of breathing and acting in a manner injurious to a child, class A misdemeanors. Howe was released on his own recognizance.
- HINSDALE — Justin W. Lippert, 37, of Olean, was charged at 6 p.m. Tuesday with aggravated family offense and two counts first-degree criminal contempt, class E felonies; and second-degree reckless endangerment, a class A misdemeanor. Lippert was released on his own recognizance.
- AMITY — Gary Naland Wiley, 46, of Erie, Pa., was charged at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine, a class C felony; reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor; third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanors. Wiley was held pending arraignment.
- LEON — A 14-year-old resident of Conewango Valley was charged at 10:24 p.m. Tuesday with criminal obstruction of breathing and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, class A misdemeanors. The juvenile was released with a family court appearance ticket.
