CUBA — It took overtime, but the Belfast Central School girls’ soccer team kept its unbeaten streak alive Tuesday night.
After a 1-1 tie through regulation, Breanna Peavey scored in the second overtime period to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 win over Cuba-Rushford in Allegany County Division I action.
Kayli Williams scored a first-half goal for Belfast, which moved to 12-0 and remained the last undefeated soccer team — boys or girls — in the Big 30.
Brittany Fair had a marker in the second half for Cuba-Rushford (8-4), which had won six of its last seven games entering Tuesday’s contest.
Belfast’s Kaylee Middaugh made eight saves, while the Rebels’ Brittany Wallace recorded six stops.
“I’m proud of my girls,” C-R coach Joe Shaffer said. “We won the midfield play, but Belfast had a nice shot in overtime.
“I really felt like we played well. If we keep playing well like that, good things will happen for us.”
