SCIO — The number of undefeated boys’ soccer teams remaining in the Big 30 is now at zero.
In a match pitting two of the top ranked Class D teams in New York state, Fillmore knocked Scio from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 2-0 non-league victory on Monday night.
Ryan Pelletier scored with 12:47 remaining to give the Eagles (9-1) the lead and Mich Montesano added an insurance goal five minutes later.
Fillmore came into the game ranked 12th in the state. The Tigers (7-1-1) were ranked ninth.
“It was a tough even battle between two good teams for 75 minutes,” Scio coach Dennis Karns said. “Fillmore was able to capitalize on our two mistakes and put the ball in the back of net.”
Jordan Crouch made five saves to earn the shutout for Fillmore, which has won seven straight games.
Devon Green had four saves for Scio.
