OLEAN — Due to the impending severe weather forecast for Thursday, the Olean General Hospital Auxiliary’s Strawberry Festival has been postponed until Friday.

Rain and a possibly heavy thunderstorm were forecast beginning at noon Thursday, while better weather was expected for Friday — clouds early but then breaking into pleasant partly sunny conditions in the afternoon.

The OGH Auxiliary said pre-orders of strawberry shortcake will be delivered Thursday, as scheduled. The Unyts blood drive will also be held Thursday, as previously scheduled, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital’s education center.

In addition to the more than 80 pounds of strawberries used to serve strawberry shortcake, the event will offer sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, Texas hots, a baked potato bar, drinks, baked goods, craft items, raffles and entertainment.

The event will also feature a health fair from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. sponsored by OGH. Hospital services to be featured will include radiation medicine; clinical education; pediatrics; sleep; dental; The Pavilion; nutrition and diabetes education; and Foothills Medical Group.

Other community organizations included in the health fair are the Alzheimer’s Association; Audio Care Inc.; Blue Cross/Blue Shield of WNY; Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office; Directions in Independent Living; Home Care & Hospice; Total Senior Care; Cattaraugus County Suicide Prevention Coalition; Council on Addiction Recovery Services (CAReS); Southern Tier Heath Care Systems Inc.; United Healthcare; and the YMCA.

Proceeds from the event benefit the hospital’s auxiliary. For more information, call 375-6119.
