SALAMANCA — Some staff members at the Dudley Hotel in Salamanca think they’ve seen a ghost named “George” roaming the halls, others believe that they’ve seen an apparition of a former employee in the basement.
Whether the sightings are true or not, owner Laura Dorfman knows that the historic hotel lends itself to creepy tales during the Halloween season. She decided to join in on the fun this year by providing tours to the public. Sections of the hotel have been embellished with decorations, amenities and reenactments for the Halloween season to make the tours even more entertaining.
“Probably the number-one question people ask when they check in is, ‘Is this place haunted,’” Ms. Dorfman said of the hotel. “That’s a fair question because it’s 142 years old ... Basically what I decided to do this year is to go with that belief” and have a Haunted Hotel tour.
