OLEAN — For nearly three decades, the Olean Area Youth Court has helped kids who break the law understand their actions and make amends to society and those they wronged.
Last year was no different.
“We had a good year,” said Paula Keenan, the youth court’s coordinator. “Any time that we’re working with the kids on either side of the program, it’s a good thing.”
In 2013, the youth court received 13 referrals and heard 12 cases. Four of the cases were returned to probation for alternative management. In 2012, the youth court received 22 referrals and heard 18 cases.
