OLEAN — Along the western edge of Forness Park stands a vacant building and closed miniature golf course that has been overgrown by weeds and brush.
But that will change through the construction of Good Times of Olean — a 50,000-square-foot, two-story recreation center proposed by ETJM Properties LLC.
“From a development perspective, this is something that we’ve wanted to do for a long time,” said West Long, ETJM’s general manager. “In conversations, we’ve asked, ‘What is there to do in Olean as a family, as a parent and as adults?’ It seems like Olean has a lot of things to do, but they’re all cookie cutters of each other.
“And a lot of (children) now don’t go outside to play,” he said. “Instead, they’re inside playing video games. So for us, this facility is also a way to get people out and moving again.”
When built, the $5.5 million facility will boast many amenities, including 24 bowling lanes, a miniature golf course, volleyball courts, batting cages, billiards, a multi-use field, ping pong and other things.
