When I became old enough to vote, I voted for a political party rather than for the individual candidate because I did not care about politics and I did not want to spend the time researching each candidate.
I believed that whoever got elected would do his duty and follow our constitution, which was written to protect us from excessive government control.
After writing several letters to our representatives in Congress expressing my concerns, I realized they were lacking the moral integrity and character required to be good leaders. Most are not interested in the will of the people due to their own selfish agendas, which have left us without representation in Washington.
Both parties are guilty of ignoring the people and building themselves a very nice lifetime position in government, including a retirement plan and benefits that most of us will never be able to afford. And it’s all on our tax money without any approval from “we the people” who pay the bill.
Because we were not watching, they also gave our tax money away for totally unnecessary projects in exchange for votes in order to continue their extravagant lifestyles. Most of the present politicians have done nothing to stop the wasteful spending and must be replaced with people with character and integrity.
Our children and grandchildren are saddled with a horrific national debt, in the trillions and climbing, because of the politicians’ greed and lust for power.
This coming November, it is absolutely essential that every one of us learn what the candidate stands for. Forget their political party and vote for the candidate with moral integrity and character. This could be our last chance to save this republic that so many have fought and died for.
To learn the issues and where each candidate stands on the issues, one of the many websites to visit is votesmart.org.
