OLEAN - For 37 minutes on Sunday afternoon, the JCC-Olean men’s basketball team dominated the action against non-conference rival Onondaga CC at the Olean YMCA.

It was the last three minutes, however, where the Jaguars needed to come up big.

And they didn’t.

Shairron Miller scored 25 points to key Onondaga in a come-from-behind 112-109 victory in overtime.

“It was frustrating because, for 37 minutes, we did everything right and, in the end, we let one slip through our fingers,” said JCC-Olean coach JR Kemp. “In fact, we led by 10 points with just 54 seconds to play.

“We turned the ball over a couple of times and missed some free throws and they hit a three with two seconds left to send the game into overtime.

“In the OT, they scored first and put us back on our heels,” noted Kemp. “This was a tough game to lose. I’ll be very interested to see how we bounce back next Friday when we play the fifth-ranked team in the country in our first road game.”

The Jaguars (2-2) will meet Columbus State in a first-round game in the Columbus State Invitational.

On Sunday, Isiah Woods led JCC-Olean with 26 points and 11 rebounds while James Chatman added 18 points and 15 boards.

Travis Wright added 24 points, Rameek Boyd chipped in with 18 points and six assists and DeParis Banks handed out eight assists.

Aaron Stang and Zach Moore led five double-digit scorers with 17 points apiece for the Panthers.

Sam Moore added 11 points and five assists for UPB, which turned the ball over 23 times while Lycoming made just five turnovers.
