WELLSVILLE - A Wellsville man lost his life while at work at Alstom Air Preheater Company Tuesday.

A 29-year-old Wellsville man, whose name is being withheld by state police, suffered fatal injuries when a five-ton steel apparatus he was working on fell from its support stands and landed on him at about 10:57 a.m., according to troopers.

Allegany County Coroner Ted Crowell responded to the scene and took the victim’s body to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will conduct an independent investigation, state police said.

Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance assisted at the scene.
